Eckhardt's songwriting style is absent on this record, but luckily the band came together and recorded some incredible stuff. The Pietasters have always been known for their blend of ska and soul, but it has never been as apparent as on this record.
The "oo-oo's" and the bouncy guitar in "Set Me Up" will make this a crowd pleaser at live shows. This song is amazing. Selah's lyrics are great and the song contains one of the greatest moments in Pietaster history - the band completely stops playing and gives the limelight to the horn section.
Assuming they all knew more than you did, you made all kinds of choices and took decisions based on what the world thought was best for you. Not based on what you knew in your heart to be right and true for you. And in doing so, you began to perceive yourself as being small, helpless, and insignificant. But you, my friend, are not small and insignificant. And your power was given to you — to use and to keep.
And not to give it away. Questions have power — great power, creative power. And by addressing deep questions To yourself, you will get profound answers From yourself. The Soul is so much wiser than the mind can actually realize. And at times, in order to protect the Truth and Sacredness of who we are from the impurities of the mind, it will ask us to follow the advice of St.
Paul, and:. To surrender ourselves completely to the part of us that lives in Light, Truth, Love, and Awareness. And allow ourselves to be guided, not in the direction the mind thinks we should go, but in the direction, the Soul knows it will be wise for us to go. Wayne Dyer used to quote this line from A Course in Miracles quite frequently:.
There is a world unseen to the eye but Known to the Heart. Seek to live from that sacred place. Self-trust means that you can take care of your needs and safety, Wall said.
It means you trust yourself to survive situations, and practice kindness, not perfection. It means you refuse to give up on yourself, she said. In The Courage to Trust Wall lists other components that encompass self-trust. They include: being aware of your thoughts and feelings and expressing them; following your personal standards and ethical code; knowing when you need to care for yourself first; knowing you can survive mistakes, get up and try again; and pursuing what you want without stopping or limiting others.
Instead, we were taught to be dependent. Maybe you had parents, family, friends or mentors who modeled trust and gave you positive messages about yourself. But whether you had this or not, you can learn to trust yourself.
Wall describes trust as a skill all of us can learn. She suggested these tips for beginning the process. Think about the individuals who surround you.
We take the time to connect with our emotional wellbeing and attend to any disturbances that show up. Whenever you notice internal unrest, it is a call to spend time in silence to examine the emotions. It is no surprise our lives are hectic. We are more likely to pay attention to external events instead of meet our personal needs. Yet, if we continue down this path we neglect our inner life, which influences how we relate to the world. A practice I mention in my upcoming book, Reconstructing the Past to Create a Remarkable Future involves a simple question to see how we relate to the world.
This simple question allows us to distinguish what is going on inside us, instead of dismissing the emotional disturbances as unjustified. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.
Eckhart Tolle states that whenever emotional chaos is apparent, we invite an earlier Pain-Body experience into the present moment. This is obvious when others trigger our Pain-Body, such as being cut off in traffic or someone taking our line in the queue whilst shopping. We have not trusted ourselves enough to let our feelings take their full course.
So we never find out that a feeling is not so tough on us as we imagine it will be. We miss out on how much better we feel when we let go instead of hold back. Building self-trust does not mean we will always say or do the right thing. Irrespective of our words or actions, whatever arises is there to guide our personal evolution.
