I wore out two audiocassettes of this album in the eighties and nineties, and remember them to be flawlessly recorded, mixed and produced. Room filling sound that was rich and full. By comparison, this CD sounds flat and dull. It works overhard just to fill up the cab of my pick-up truck with music; and its nowhere near as exhilarating as it should be.

All that being said, it's better to have this version than to not have this album. And that is when this album came along in which,if I have my history right was the Qwest label's second album release. It's a bubbling, sexy sophistifunk type number not all that dissimilar to a female perspective on Michael Jackson's "Rock With You"-not to mention having one of the thickest high bass lines I've ever heard as well as making use of Patti's lower vocal register.

The title has a sleek adult contemporary soul production of an almost country-pop type song on which Austin confidently offers a potential suitor a happy home Feinstein in accompaniment.

This is just about as ideal as Patti Austin's debut for the then very new record label could possibly manage to be. By the time Patti Austin became the first artist signed to Quincy Jones' Qwest label in she had recorded four albums for CTI Records--sadly, these made no impact whatsoever outside the Jazz charts.

A classic in every way. Austin starts by singing "Do you love me? This is a good album that I can play over and over again. Every home should have Patti Austin!

Four stars!! I got to hear her music - as recordings played on the show and as live performances right there will Mr. Feinstein in accompaniment. So happy I bought this. Not so great. This remains one of my favorites!

While exploring modern dance grooves and even country to some degree, this albums musical diversification does actually lay quite a bit more within the jazz idiom that includes funk more often than not. 1. Thanks to Patti's gorgeous duet with James Ingram ("Baby Come To Me") this album became a million-seller and Patti became a household name (temporarily). This CD's crown jewels, however, are the breathtakingly-beautiful "The Island" and Patti's remake of The Stylistics' "Stop Look Listen". A classic in every .
  2. A big one for Patti Austin – and a set that moved her from the jazz/soul sidelines right into the mainstream – but all without losing any of her charm from before! A big part of the record's success comes from the production work of Quincy Jones – a longtime associate who gave Patti some key exposure on earlier records of his own, and a great choice to handle the mix of.
