You can still hear the echoes of the sixties, of Dylan, of Salinger, of American folksongs, but all this disc reaches an its own brilliant balance.

The poetic of Guccini is here going deeper, and bitter. He's now not afraid of describing nothing less than man's journey into thw world. The influences from French ecistentialism are also evident, in the texts and in the "chansonnier" atmosphere of some scores. The title comes from a poem by Guido Gozzano, which he transposes into music: "but the most beautiful of them all is the never found island".

That's a programmatic statement which makes clear the spirit of the album. Among the pieces, I like to recall the tender "L'orizzonte di K. But the musical and poetic peak of the work is "Il tema" "The theme".

Here, he frankly admits which is going be the theme of his own songs: time, the passing of time "singing the time going away will be my only theme, because always the same is the problem He will keep faithful to this theme, so simple yet so universal, over the years. This is a melancholic, almost hypnotic, moving, sweet tune, one of the most original Italian songs of all time.
